2024 Chambers USA Recognizes Herrick’s Real Estate, Litigation, Restructuring and Sports Practices and Lawyers for Excellence

We are proud to announce that Chambers USA has ranked Herrick’s real estate, commercial litigation, real estate litigation, sports law and zoning/land use practices for distinguished client service. Chambers USA also recognized eight Herrick attorneys as leading practitioners in the law.

Real Estate

For the 18th year in a row, Herrick’s Real Estate Department was ranked as one of New York’s top real estate law practices. Chambers USA stated that Herrick is an "established real estate group, assisting clients with the financing and execution of complex acquisitions and developments" and that Herrick "offers a strong network of governmental and agency contacts as well as public sector experience." An interviewee stated, "The Herrick, Feinstein team provides excellent client service and there is not really a real estate development specialty that the firm does not have."

The Land Use & Zoning Group was also recognized for excellence in serving New York clients, with Chambers USA writing that the Herrick team is "adept at securing land use and zoning permits for real estate owners and developers." A client expressed that "Herrick's team has a broad knowledge base and can tackle complex, multi-layered projects."

Herrick executive chair and co-chair of the Real Estate DepartmentBelinda G. Schwartz, and chair of the Land Use & Zoning GroupMitchell A. Korbey, were once again ranked as leading individuals for New York Real Estate and New York Zoning & Land Use, respectively. Chambers USA wrote that Belinda "demonstrates great experience across a range of real estate issues, and frequently handles acquisition, development and leasing matters concerning a wide variety of asset classes." A client said, "[Belinda] has incredible knowledge, experience and business savvy." Another client reported, "Belinda is always available for us and she is always trying to solve any issues we are faced with." Chambers USA noted that Mitch "advises a diverse client roster on complex zoning projects including rezoning and matters relating to development." An interviewee described Mitch as “a wealth of zoning and land use knowledge." A client highlighted that Mitch "gives great legal advice that incorporates commercial awareness and he is also incredibly responsive."

Litigation

For the 12th consecutive year, Herrick’s Litigation Department was ranked for excellence in New Jersey commercial litigation. Chambers USA commented that Herrick "handles a wide spectrum of civil litigation, including complex commercial disputes, real estate litigation and commercial foreclosures; [a]n impressive client roster [that] includes high-profile players from a number of industries, such as financial institutions and food and beverage multinationals."  A client reported that Herrick "provides excellent service and valuable counsel."

Herrick counsel, Ronald J. Levine, was specifically recognized as a leader in New Jersey commercial litigation. Chambers USA stated that Ron "has extensive experience in the handling of product liability class actions involving product recalls, the Food Safety Modernization Act and FDA regulations. He represents corporations from a variety of industries, with an emphasis on the food and beverage sector."

Real Estate Litigation

Chambers USA recognized Herrick's Real Estate Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice Group as a leading practice in New York real estate litigation. Chambers USA highlighted that Herrick is "[h]ighly regarded in the New York real estate litigation space." A client said Herrick's "ability to handle complex and sophisticated matters is truly exceptional. They possess a multifaceted approach that sets them apart, combining their extensive intelligence and knowledge of NYC laws with a practical and strategic mindset.”

William R. Fried, Herrick partner and co-chair of the Litigation Department, and partner Scott E. Mollen were recognized as leaders in New York real estate litigation. Chambers USA called Scott "a seasoned practitioner with notable experience in real estate disputes as part of a broader commercial real estate practice." One of Scott's clients expressed, "Scott is truly a star, technically excellent in briefs and other pleadings and excellent on his feet before a judge. His judgement and experience are tops.” Chamber's USA described Bill as having "key expertise in real estate and construction disputes." A client noted, "Bill's strengths are his overall strategy for cases and his experience. He knows the judges and has good judgment on complex matters."

Restructuring

Sean E. O’Donnell, partner and co-chair of Herrick's Restructuring & Finance Litigation Department, was ranked as a leading bankruptcy, restructuring and litigation attorney in New York. One client praised Sean saying, "He is a very talented courtroom lawyer... he also has a great understanding of the finer points associated with corporate documentation." Another client said that “Sean has fantastic courtroom presence and a great ability to distill complex matters and present this to judges."

Sports Law

For the 11th year running, Herrick’s Sports Law Group was recognized as a distinguished practice at the national level. Chambers USA stated that the team is "[r]ecognized for its work with some of the most storied names in American sports, but also home to an ever-expanding client roster of teams, leagues and investors." The group "provides counsel on complex disputes and daily advisory needs across a number of sports." One client stated that the Sports Law Group "practitioners demonstrate solid expertise on complex matters."

Kishner, was again ranked for excellence in sports law nationwide for his "extensive experience of handling large-scale corporate transactions in the sports space" and his "additional expertise in advising leagues, teams and media organizations on development and media rights agreements, among other issues." An interviewee stated, "Irwin is an excellent transactional lawyer with deep expertise. He is also extremely client-focused, responsive and service-oriented.”
