Leslie Chervokas has extensive commercial transactional, financing and restructuring expertise. She regularly represents a major corporation and its affiliates in connection with various corporate, financing and bankruptcy matters, including the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt restructuring, the Los Angeles Dodgers' bankruptcy case, and transactions involving some of the New York region's most prominent sports franchises. Prior to joining Herrick, Ms. Chervokas was Special Counsel at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP where she represented the United States Treasury and the President's Automotive Task Force in connection with the highly commended General Motors and Chrysler bankruptcy cases. Her past experience also includes chapter 11 representation of debtors, creditors and other constituents operating in various industries such as automotive, cable television, commercial real estate, equipment leasing, gaming, healthcare, hospitality, investment banking, manufacturing, media & entertainment, pharmaceutical and retail.
Leslie often advises parties to workouts and restructurings of complex financial transactions, including those involving derivatives and other structured products. She represented JPMorgan Chase Bank in the restructuring of certain CMBS debt of Centro Properties Group, a transaction honored at the 2009 Turnaround Atlas Awards. In addition, Leslie regularly advises various clients on the impact of insolvency law and Dodd-Frank on commercial transactions including securitizations, safe harbored financial contracts and derivatives. Her breadth of experience and pragmatic approach to addressing legal issues consistently enables her clients to achieve effective and efficient results in multifaceted business matters.
